Spy tech to monitor Aust school attendance

(Australian Associated Press)

Some Australian schools are monitoring student attendance by using facial recognition technology during the school day in a bid to end manual roll-call and monitor student truancy.

LoopLearn says it has already begun limited trials in some schools and its data is stored securely.

The company says its devices automatically account for students across the entire school in real time using “unobtrusive” devices installed in all spaces before displaying the information “into an easy to use web dashboard and mobile app”.
